The Battle for My Heart
Hearts can be broken;
Lives can be destroyed,
Take time to think it over
Then choose to obey the Lord.
It’s time to make a choice
About which way you will travel.
One road leads to peace and joy
Choose the other, and life will unravel.
Sin looks so right for this moment,
With passion it calls your name
But once you cross the line
You will never be the same
It stains your life, it blemishes
It takes a piece of your soul
Satan only destroys the good in your heart
Snatches your peace with his hold.
He whispers, “It’s all for your good”
“Don’t deny yourself this pleasure”
“You’ll feel so good when you’ve done it your way”
“Satisfaction and joy beyond measure!”
The Sweet Holy Spirit now whispers
In tones of loving concern
And it flows through my heart as He beckons
Then His precious voice bids me, “Turn!
You can have fading bliss for a moment
The choice is now up to you.
The pleasure of sin is so fleeting
It destroys your soul through and through
So trust me, Dear One, to guide you
And keep your soul in sweet peace
I’ll hold to your hand as we travel
In my arms you can always retreat.”
