A Friend
Someone I can smile with
When happy times are here
Someone I can cry with
When sorrow and pain draw near
Someone who accepts me
With a love that is pure and true
Someone who cheers me on
In the task that I must do
Someone who does not judge me,
Who loves me… anyway
Someone who does not tell the secrets
I share with her today
Someone who does not change her mood
Just because the day is rough
Someone who does not walk away
When the going gets too tough
Someone who listens to me
With more than just her ears
Someone who cares with all her heart;
Calms my deepest fears
Someone who takes my every need
To the Father when she prays;
Someone who loves me faithfully
Will be there for me always.
“Thank you, Heavenly Father,
I have been blessed beyond belief.
I have precious friends who love me;
They share my joy, my grief.
I pray that I will be a friend to each of them
As they have been to me.
If I would be that kind of friend,
I must keep my eyes on Thee.
